Department of Computer Science
  • The Department of Computer Science focuses on the development of an in-depth understanding of the core science and skills of computing by offering courses in computer programming languages, software engineering, operating system design, data structures, and computer architecture.
  • It offers study in a variety of specialized computing areas such as database design, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, computer networks, game design, visualization, computer vision, and virtual reality.
  • The program helps students develop basic skills in design and problem solving, written and verbal communication, and teamwork.
  • The Department of Computer Science offers, B.A., B.S., M.S., and IT Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science.

Department of Software and Information Systems
  • The Department of Software and Information Systems is primarily focused on the study of technologies and methodologies for information system architecture, design, implementation, integration, and management with particular emphasis on system security.
  • The emphasis is on the development of information systems and the interactions between people and those systems.
  • The undergraduate program offers concentrations in the areas of Web Development, Software Engineering, Information Technology, and Financial Services Informatics and is designed to prepare students to match the diverse requirements of a wide variety of employers.

Department of Bioinformatics and Genomics
  • The Department of Bioinformatics and Genomics focuses on the discovery, development and application of novel computational technologies to help solve important biological problems.
  • Faculty and students develop and apply computational tools and approaches for understanding biological data and for modeling biological systems.
  • This involves an interdisciplinary approach that includes participation from such departments as Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Statistics, and Software and Information Systems. The work has broad applications in the area of personalized medicine, drug discovery, agriculture, energy, and the environment.
  • The Department offers a Professional Science Masters Degree in Bioinformatics and a Bioinformatics track within the IT Ph.D. Program.
