Title: Designing the Computing Experience, an iCompute Campaign for Teens

Abstract:


The goal of the iCompute campaign is to attract creative teens with a burning desire to contribute in a meaningful way, and show them that they can use computing as a powerful partner to accomplish their goals. They will be connected to people with resources and have access to programs that help ignite and further their cause.

 

Bio:

Jill Ross is the Associate Director for the National Image of Computing Task Force, housed at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The overarching goal is to inspire people to pursue educational and career opportunities in the computing-related disciplines. The task force consists of representatives from top global high-technology corporations and influential math and computer science associations.

 

Jill spent 10 years at Avaya, Inc. She joined Bell Labs in 1997 in Research & Development roles supporting global contact center solutions, IP telephony and voice response architectures.  She spent several years as Director of Technical Marketing accountable for global competitive assessment and demonstration labs. Most recently, she served as Director of Executive Relationships supporting the CEO and his executive staff, designing and executing on customer councils made up of Fortune 100 global CIOs and Customer Service Senior VPs. 

 

Jill’s main objective has always been to bring the customers’ voice to the forefront strategic planning efforts. She is an Avaya patent-holder as well as a seasoned public speaker and has appeared on CNN to discuss industry trends.

 

Jill earned a Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, with a minor in computer science, from Washington State University.  She also obtained voice and data certification at the Rochester Institute of Technology.  She currently resides in Colorado with her 3 children.
