Abstract:

Visualization is fundamentally about exploration, but most work in visualization focuses on the visual and not the exploration. However, to foster wider adopting and more efficient systems, we need to look at what occurs during visualization. In this work, I discuss the P-Set Model of visualization exploration and how we are using it to improve two computer security visualization systems. I also share a few thoughts on the future of visualization research.

Bio:

Dr. T.J. is a soon to be Associate Professor in Computer Science and Engineering within the Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University. His research interests lie at the intersection of scientific and information visualization with a smattering of web programming. His goal is to make visualization techniques and systems more effective by improving interaction methods and visualization utilization. T.J. has a Master's and Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis and a B.S. from Harvey Mudd College. He loves Python.
