MS Facilities
The Department of Computer Science has access to extensive networked computing resources with abundant facilities for students. The campus computing systems offer Windows XP desktops, Red Hat Linux environments, and Solaris workstations on a 24 hour basis. Available software includes Java, C, C++, Fortran, Pascal, Common LISP, Smalltalk, Oracle, Prolog, and Perl. Multiple SQL databases, including Oracle, Mysql, and Postgresql, are available for use. The computers provide applications for website development, database development, computer aided design, VLSI design, computer aided software engineering, and data visualization. The Department maintains smaller groups of computers used in research labs to facilitate computer vision, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, computer graphics algorithm development, and knowledge discovery in databases research. High speed Internet access is available, and access to your UNCC files is available from on and off campus.
