Tenure-Track Faculty Positions

 

Assistant/Associate Professor positions. The Department of Software and Information Systems at UNC Charlotte invites applicants for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at both the assistant and associate levels beginning in Fall 2009.  The Department is dedicated to research and education in Software Engineering and Information Technology applications, with emphasis in the areas of Information Integration & Environments and Information Security & Assurance; it offers degrees at the Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. levels.  Current faculty members have strong research programs with substantial funding from both federal agencies and industrial partners.  The department is particularly interested in faculty with research expertise in: Trusted Software Development, Software Engineering, or Modeling & Simulation. Highly qualified candidates in other areas will also be considered. Salary will be highly competitive. 

 

Responsibilities. The individuals will have primary responsibilities for conducting high quality research, as well as teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, in their areas of expertise. Candidates will be expected to advise Ph.D. and Master’s students in research; serve on dissertation committees; maintain research productivity; and obtain external funds to support research activities. In addition, candidates will be expected to further develop the curriculum and new courses as needed, and provide service to the university, community, and profession.

 

Qualifications. We seek faculty colleagues to join a high achieving, dynamic, and growing College of Computing and Informatics. The college and the Department of Software and Information Systems strive to develop a deep understanding of computing technology and its implications. We have a strong commitment to diversity among our students and colleagues. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, as well as a strong commitment to research and education.

 

Setting. The Software and Information Systems Department is a pioneer in Information Technology research and education. We offer a wide selection of courses in Information Technology and Software Engineering emphasizing the design and deployment of IT infrastructures that deliver integrated, secure, reliable, and easy-to-use services. Our security and privacy program is recognized by the National Security Agency as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education and Research. The department is part of the College of Computing and Informatics, one of the few colleges in the U.S. devoted entirely to the computing sciences.
